Congresbury Village Fete & Flower Show a great success

On occasion the skies looked as if they would let the side down but thankfully the rain held off and the sun kept on peeking from behind the clouds to make the 2014 Congresbury Village Fete & Flower Show on Sat 28th June a fun filled & relatively warm day.

A fantastic turnout added to the atmosphere along with the aromas emanating from the BBQ as adults and children alike flocked to cheer on Congresbury Brass and the Congresbury Gymnastics & Karate Club Displays. The Tug-of-War competition also proved popular with Team “The Plough” beating Team “PTA” in the finals.

The numerous stalls & attractions, including Scouts & Guides tombola, Children’s Hospice S.W.’s “decorate a cup-cake” as well as the licensed bar supported by the St Andrew’s Primary School PTA, adorned poppies to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the 1st World War.

In keeping with the fete theme, hats decorated with poppies were worn by many and a parade took place at 3:30pm with the best floral headgear being judged by the event sponsor Debbie Fortune.

The Horticultural Marquee showcased an exhibition of some of the best flowers & produce throughout the day with the winners being announced just before the fete came to a close.

Please feel free to leave any comments and let us know how you enjoyed the day. 🙂
