The children of St Andrew’s School are hard at work on their allotment plot.

On Tuesday April 21st the three Key Stage 1 classes from St Andrew’s Primary School visited the allotments to begin work on their school plot.

Over the last few weeks Rod and Don, both Allotment Association committee members, have been very busy getting the plot ready for the children to experience growing their own fruit and vegetables, flowers and herbs. On this, the first of three visits planned for this academic year, the children planted potatoes and sowed radishes and peas.

150423-Schools-Allotments-2Thanks need to be extended to Don Cox and Rod Stephens for all the ground work they’ve carried out, the Parish Council for providing the school with a rent free plot, Michael Greaves for sourcing sponsorship for the children’s tools and all the volunteers who assisted the children on the day and will help to care for the plot between visits.

If you would like to be part of this exciting development please speak to Peter Talbot, Judy Ashley or Janet Dickson.
