Village hall project revised

New Village Hall – Revised Plans

Revised plans for a smaller new village hall and community centre for Congresbury are being drawn up to help offset rising costs.

The Congresbury New Village Hall Development Trust has been working with architects Stride Treglown on reducing the footprint of the proposed building, first mooted in late 2013.

“We have to be realistic and whilst the footprint will be reduced the new building will still meet the projects vision of providing the village with the multi-use facilities it desperately needs,” said project spokesperson Ian Sheppard.

“There will be space for expansion when required subject to the necessary permissions. We have also taken the opportunity to relook at the roof design and the architects have been able to reduce the height of the building which was a concern to local residents.

“As part of the Community Right to Build (CRtB) order once the final plans have been agreed they will be submitted to North Somerset Council who will publicise these for consultation.”

The plans will be available to view at a coffee morning at the Recreation club on Thursday 31 August from 9 – 12. As well as the drinks and cakes there’ll be children’s activities and crafts. At 12 the winning tickets will be drawn for the grand village draw which has raised funds for the new building project.
